چکیده

In this paper, we develop linear fixed-order (i.e., fulland reduced order) pressure rise feedback dynamic compensators for axial flow compressors with throttle valve actuation. Unlike the nonlinear static controllers proposed in the literature possessing gain at all frequencies, the proposed dynamic compensators explicitly account for compressor performance versus sensor accuracy, compressor performance versus processor throughput, and compressor performance versus disturbance rejection. Furthermore, the proposed controller is predicated on only pressure rise measurements, providing a considerable simplification in the sensing architecture over the bifurcation-based and backstepping controllers proposed in the literature.

Dispersion Coefficients of Supercritical Fluid in Fixed Beds

The axial dispersion coefficient of hexachlorobenzene in supercritical carbon dioxide is investigated in a fixed-bed packed with glass beads. The on-line chromatographic pulse-response experiment is used in order to study the dynamics of a packed column under supercritical conditions. The radial dispersion is assumed negligible because of the packed column geometry. To estimate the axial disper...

Friction Compensation for Dynamic and Static Models Using Nonlinear Adaptive Optimal Technique

Friction is a nonlinear phenomenon which has destructive effects on performance of control systems. To obviate these effects, friction compensation is an effectual solution. In this paper, an adaptive technique is proposed in order to eliminate limit cycles as one of the undesired behaviors due to presence of friction in control systems which happen frequently. The proposed approach works for n...

First-Order Formulation for Functionally Graded Stiffened Cylindrical Shells Under Axial Compression

The buckling analysis of stiffened cylindrical shells by rings and stringers made of functionally graded materials subjected to axial compression loading is presented. It is assumed that the material properties vary as a power form of the thickness coordinate variable. The fundamental relations, the equilibrium and stability equations are derived using the first order shear deformation theory. ...

Correcting the stress-strain curve in hot compression test using finite element analysis and Taguchi method

In the hot compression test friction has a detrimental influence on the flow stress through the process and therefore, correcting the deformation curve for real behavior is very important for both researchers and engineers. In this study, a series of compression tests were simulated using Abaqus software. In this study, it has been employed the Taguchi method to design experiments by the factor...
